What Is Home Automation?
Essentially, automation is the use of computers or devices (tablets and phones) to control basic home functions such as controlling lights, locks, window shades, thermostats, sprinklers, and security systems. An automated home, or a smart home, can be controlled from any location as long as the device has internet access.
Until recently, automation was typically to control the most basic of systems and was only seen in commercial buildings and luxury homes. These basic systems could only be controlled at control points within the building. Automation has evolved and is becoming more accessible to home and business owners alike. Automated systems are developing and are a part of the “Internet of Things,” where everything has an assigned IP address and can be controlled and monitored remotely.
